Edible Games: Jenn Sandercock

Edible Games

I'm in the process of creating a series of edible games. They will be varied games, but one thing they have in common is that one of the core gameplay mechanics is eating. Yes! Eating! Real world eating.

Below are some of the games that are more fleshed out. This list will be getting added to.

If you'd like to be updated when new games are added or for dates of when and where I'll be touring and showing the games, please sign up for my newsletter.

THE ORDER OF THE OVEN MITT

Do you have the appetite to become a Knight of the Oven Mitt?

Complete the Initiation Trial by eating (yes, actually eating) Sacred Squares according to the Sacred Rituals. You’ll have to endure being made to look silly and hope your hunger can last until all the Sacred Squares have been eaten.

You and another Initiate Knight (or in two teams), move about the game board in a chess-knight style movements. Land on a Sacred Square to eat it according to the Sacred Ritual. Move the Squares in your column or row around on the board as holes appear. Stop the other Knight from getting your favourite Sacred Square, or compromise and share together.

The Order of the Oven Mitt is a tabletop, completely edible game for all ages that will get you laughing and strategising while you satisfy your sweet tooth.

GINGERBREAD FRIENDS

Make friends, use logic, eat gingerbread!

Ask one of the strange life questions to the group and guess their answers. If you're right, you'll get to eat a gingerbread lid and see if you've found a prize. If you haven't got a prize, you might get a clue to where the next prize is.

MASTER TASTER

Do you have the taste buds to become the Master Food Taster in the land?

You'll need excellent taste buds and memory to pass the trial. You and others will compete to become the Master Taster.

In each round you'll hear a new fact about one of the famous people you're taste testing for. It will be some information about what they dislike (or maybe like). Then you have to taste a morcel with your eyes closed and work out whether it's safe for all the famous people to eat. Each round you get new information which is never repeated.

J-WOBBLER

Wobble jelly, land on a bear, EAT a square!

The technology: a slab of jelly (Jell-O), some gummy bears, a jawbreaker. The gameplay mechanic: Take turns to have 5 seconds to wobble the tray and move the jawbreaker. You must try and get the jawbreaker to land on top of a gummy bear square. If it does, you eat that square. If you land in a hole, your turn is over and the next player places the jawbreaker back on the tray (not on top of a gummy bear).

J-Wobbler is a tabletop, completely edible game for all ages that will get you laughing and wobbling.
